Capsule production process

How is gelatin capsule made?

Every day, more and more people are beginning to understand the benefits of gelatin capsules, which naturally leads to a question. How is gelatin capsules made? The quick answer is that they are made with natural ingredients and are time-tested and safe.

One of the main advantages of gel capsules is that they are a type of food. In fact, gelatin capsules come entirely from natural substances. Historically, gelatin has come from extracts of bovine bone and pure water. In modern times, there is a new type of gelatin and there are alternatives to vegetarian capsules. These help ensure that vegetarians, people who are allergic to foods such as soy or wheat, and those who follow a Kosher or halal diet have specific dietary demand.

First, the staff performed a safety test on the essential ingredients to check for bacterial infections or other impurities. They placed gelatin samples in petri dishes and placed them in a bacterial incubator that stimulated any possible bacterial growth. Next, the sample enters the spectrometer, burns gelatin and analyzes the gas and "smokes" any impurities. This is a very accurate scientific study that tells lab staff whether a particular batch of gelatin can be used safely.

After confirm the quality and safety of gelatin, the next step is to turn it into a useful state. Using industrial-strength blenders, they just whip ingredients like anyone can make a cake. The mixture is now subjected to a heating process until it reaches about 80℃ (or about 176 degrees Fahrenheit). The gelatin solution can now be used and entered into the tank to keep the gelatin at around 60℃ (140℉) to prevent premature solidification.

The gelatin then enters the manufacturing area and enters the capsule making machine. The capsule-shaped dip pen is lowered into the gelatin solution to start production of the capsule. When they come out, the pins of the gelatin coating are rotated and cold air is blown through them to evenly spread the gelatin. The gelatin needle then begins to dry for a period of time, for several hours.

After drying thoroughly, the next step is to remove the lid from the pins. A special set of levers peels the capsule components from the pins and secures them to a gripping device called a collet, which has different dimensions and controls the entire length. The knife then cuts off the excess gelatin, enters the vacuum and begins the recycling process.

The finished capsule is then passed through a mechanical sorter to detect and remove any defective capsules. Further testing by automated machine and then scanning the holes, clips or dents of each capsule, those that failed the test into the recovery bin.

After strict safety and quality testing, gelatin capsules can be purchased and shipped! The next part of the process is entirely dependent on how the empty capsules are filled.
